The St. Louis Blues avoided a scare on Monday and defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 to even the Stanley Cup Final. With many considering the Boston Bruins the favourite to take home Lord Stanley’s mug, the Blues were hoping that a return to Missouri would change things.
It didn’t start off well. In their first Stanley Cup playoff home game in nearly 50 years, the Blues were crushed 7-2 in what could only have been a very depressing game to attend for the St. Louis faithful.
Luckily for the team and their loyal and rapidly growing fan base, they bounced back in Game 4. A tie-breaking Ryan O’Reilly goal halfway through the 3rd period proved to be enough for the eventual 4-2 win.
Afterwards, “The Voice” Season 15 contestant Kennedy Holmes led a raucous rendition of “Gloria” – which has become the Blues’ theme song throughout the playoffs.
She may have placed 4th on the actual show, but she definitely was #1 in St. Louis for the night.
