One of the perks of playing in an indoor ballpark is that you don’t have to worry about the weather. Rain or shine, it doesn’t matter. Baseball will be played.

Well, for the 2020 season the Blue Jays have been forced into the great outdoors and are once again at the mercy of Mother Nature. Cue the rain delay.

Thanks to the Rogers Centre and it’s retractable roof, the Blue Jays have been rain delay free for 17 years. The last time an official rain delay occurred at a Toronto home game, Kelvim Escobar was on the mound inside of the then SkyDome. Some quick moving weather showed up unannounced and delayed the game until the crew could get the roof closed.

Aside from having to deal with rain, Sahlen Field has worked out well for the Jays. Hard to argue with all the home runs they’ve been crushing there.
