We’ll be honest: we’re not avid watchers of dramatic reality television.

Though we respect people who indulge in the Bachelor, Real Housewives, and the Kardashians, they’ve never really been our thing. Hockey, however, IS our thing, and it seems like the NHL we know and love has kind of turned into one of those dramatic reality series.

You’re probably well aware of what’s happened in the NHL this week, specifically with the New York Rangers and Tom Wilson, but let’s recap, shall we?

The drama began on Monday night, when the Caps played the Rangers and Tom Wilson was at the centre of what will go down as one of the most controversial sequences in hockey history. In a clip that we’re sure you’ve already seen at least 100 times, Wilson gave Pavel Buchnevich couple of shots to the back of the head before wrestling Artemi Panarin  to the ice in what many thought was very dirty fashion. Chaos ensued, and the only appropriate photo to describe the whole situation is this one.

Hockey Twitter was calling for Tom Wilson’s head, but the next day, the NHL announced that he’d only receive a $5,000 fine for the shot to Buchnevich, and the Panarin sequence wasn’t evaluated.

Of course, Twitter lost its mind.

Then, the Rangers released this VERY strong statement calling for the firing of George Parros.

THEN, they fired their front office?

Ermmmm, okay?

But wait, there’s more! We know you saw the game last night, because who didn’t? The Caps and Rangers had an epic rematch, in which gloves flew in every direction during the first seconds of the game and T.J. Oshie scored an emotional hat trick the game after losing his dad.

Yeah, that’s a lot to unpack.

Now, it looks like the saga has its final part, which also has Twitter incensed.

Pavel Buchnevich was assessed a misconduct of his own for a vicious crosscheck during the rematch, and has since been slapped with a game in the press box.

Wheeewww, the drama! This has definitely been one of the craziest sagas we’ve ever seen unfold in the game.
