The #Sedin twins are calling it a career at the end of this season 👏

The duo capped off their careers last night with a 3-2 shootout loss at Rogers Place. Despite the defeat, Canucks fans were elated after witnessing Daniel put home his final shootout attempt.

Before calling it quits, the brothers performed a heartwarming gesture in the dressing room that summed up their character to a tee. Following the contest, Daniel and Henrik awarded their final game puck to teammate Derek Dorsett, who was forced to retire earlier this season due to injury. Dorsett is also a native of Saskatchewan, where 15 members of the province’s Junior Hockey League were killed in a fatal bus accident on Friday night.

Pure class.

The evening was full of special moments, as Oilers fans made sure to send the twins off into retirement with a huge applause. Both players’ families were on site to congratulate them after the game.

The NHL couldn’t have asked for two better players to represent the league since they were drafted with the second and third overall picks in the 1999 draft. It will be interesting to see how the Swedes spend their time going forward away from the rink.
