At the start of the NHL season, oddsmakers weren’t really giving Canadian clubs a shot at winning the Stanley Cup this year.

Heading into the 2020-21 campaign, the Toronto Maple Leafs were the only Canadian team listed in the top 10, but they were right at the bottom at +1800; along with the Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars.

As of February 26, the Maple Leafs have shot up the list and now have the second-best odds to win the Stanley Cup, and they’re not the only Canadian team on the list.

The Maple Leafs have gone from +1800 to +800, and they’re not far off from sitting alone in the top spot. Joining them on the list this time around are the Montreal Canadiens at +1600 and the Edmonton Oilers at +2000. However, with the Oilers and Leafs set to go head-to-head in a three-game series, these odds might look very different by this time next week.

Here’s how the top 10 looked heading into the season.

It’s still early, but who do you think is going to win the Stanley Cup this season?
