This year’s NBA free agency was poised to be one of the most exciting ever, and thus far, it hasn’t disappointed.
As soon as 6 pm hit, deals were swirling around quicker than fans could keep track of, and one of those deals was the blockbuster acquisition of both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving by the Brooklyn Nets.
Before that deal was announced, though, the favourites to acquire both of these players was the New York Knicks. While Knicks fans wiped their inevitable tears, reports came to light that made it more clear why Durant wasn’t keen on signing in the Big Apple.
Achilles injuries can be catastrophic, and the whole basketball world felt for Durant when he went down in the Final series against the Raptors.
We understand the Knicks hesitation, just as a result of the severity of the injury, but also, it’s Kevin Durant. If anyone can bounce back from such an ailment, it’s him.
There are plenty of stars still on the table, though, and apparently, the Knicks are one of the teams interested in Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.
