Wednesday night was a night of firsts for the Vegas Golden Knights.  For starters, it was the first playoff game in franchise history.  It was also the first playoff game on home ice for the Golden Knights.

Shea Theodore scored the first playoff goal in franchise history and the Golden Knights won their first ever playoff game.  Like we said, night of firsts.

Game 1 of the Vegas and Los Angeles series was extremely entertaining and the perfect definition of playoff hockey based on the number of hits the teams combined to record.

William Carrier led all players with 10 hits while three Kings players (Kempe, Lewis, Martinez) recorded 7 hits on the night.

In total, the two teams combined for 127 hits, just nine less than the combined hits from the four other teams in action on the first night of the playoffs (136).

That's playoff hockey, especially against a physical team like the Kings and there's no reason to expect things will change over the course of the series.
