For all of the Stanger things watchers out there, the New Jersey Devils had just the right tweet for you last night.

Fans of the show are familiar with the complex storyline, but if you don’t keep up, all you need to know for this particular article is that there’s an alternate dimension existing in parallel to the human world known as the ‘Upside down’. Sounds like a lot, but just focus on the words ‘upside down’.

New Jersey Devils forward Miles Wood drew blood after Vancouver Canucks defenceman Michael Del Zotto clipped him in the face with his stick. But like a true hockey player, the 22-year-old returned to action.

After the perfect picture was captured of Wood from the incident, the team’s Twitter account decided to have some fun with it. Millie Bobby Brown, one of the stars from the new Netflix series, is famous for her role as ‘Eleven’ in the show. Her character is capable of moving objects with her mind (a little like the force from Star Wars), but she too suffers nose bleeds when she exhibits too much effort.

So, the Devils decided to square up photos of the two side-by-side with a subtle reference to the ‘Upside Down’ in it.

Amazing.

It wasn’t the first time we’ve seen the show or its characters linked to professional sports. After capturing the 2017 World Series, Jose Altuve posed for a picture with the cast. No bloody noses were involved in this one, though.

Before @FallonTonight, @josealtuve27’s kickin’ it with the cast of @strangerthingstv!

The show even managed to make an appearance on Thumb League!

Strange Things are going down in the NHL – Thumb League

After just two seasons, Stranger things is already one of Netflix’s hottest shows, so the sports references linked to it probably aren’t going to slow down any time soon.
