Jake Allen was drafted 34th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2008 NHL Draft and he went to start 271 games in a Blues jersey over the seven years he spent with the club.

The Fredericton, New Brunswick native was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in September 2020 and signed a two-year extension with the Habs just over a month after he was acquired. Since Allen wasn’t able to return to St. Louis last season because of the pandemic, he finally made his first trip back to the city where it all started on Saturday night and was welcomed back with open arms.

The Blues played a video tribute for Allen during a break in the action in the first period and the Blues players and fans gave the Habs goalie a lengthy standing ovation as a way to show their appreciation for his time with the club.

Allen posted a 148-94-26 record with a .913 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average in 289 games with the Blues and earned 21 shutouts during that time.
