The San Antonio Missions had a mission on their hands on Friday night. Besides trying to beat the Frisco RoughRiders, the Missions’ groundscrew was forced to deal with a fairy large snake.
During the eight inning of play, a snake invaded Wolff Stadium and slithered out to center field, and poked its head up to take in a little Double-A action. We’ve seen humans, dogs, cats, and other animals make their mark during a live sporting event, but a slithery reptile such as a snake?
Yup, it actually happened.
It’s pretty clear none of them were qualified snake handlers, but that job didn’t exactly call for snake handlers to apply for it. Imagine applying for one of those jobs next season only to see a “must be able to handle reptiles such as snakes” listed under the job requirements.
The game was temporarily postponed while the snake was removed. According to team’s Facebook page, the snake may’ve been sadly killed after it was released back into the wild, which really sucks considering the poor fella just wanted to watch a little baseball and maybe ssssteal some ssssigns.
The hometown team was able to escape with a without getting bite by the reptile and managed to squeak out a 5-4 victory.
