The Seattle Storm announced today that head coach Noelle Quinn has signed a multiyear extension to remain head coach.

Quinn took over as head coach on May 30 after long-time coach Dan Hughes retired. As per team policy, the terms of the deal with Quinn were not disclosed.

Quinn, the 19th Black female head coach in WNBA history, has spent the last two seasons as a Storm assistant coach. With Quinn at the helm, the team is 10-4 and has a WNBA-best 16-6 overall record. Currently, the WNBA is on its Olympic Break, but play resumes when the Storm play in the first-ever WNBA Commissioner's Cup Championship Game on Aug. 12 against the Connecticut Sun.

"The loyalty and support that our fans show epitomize the pride this city has for the Storm," said Quinn in a statement. "My time in Seattle has been so special and I look forward to continuing to uphold the standard of excellence our organization shows both on the court and in the community."

Quinn retired as a player in 2019 after a 12-year WNBA career that included two stops in Seattle. She won a WNBA Championship as a player with the Storm in 2018 and as an assistant in 2020, and thus holds the distinction of being the only person to win a WNBA Championship as both a player and a coach.
