When the Vegas Golden Knights joined the NHL it was widely thought that there may be another team added to the league in the coming years. After all, who wants an odd number of teams in a professional sports league?

Now it looks like we know who it’s going to be. While Seattle hasn’t officially been announced as the city to join, they have been through the application process with the NHL and are taking all the necessary steps to make it happen. It would be very surprising if Seattle was not the NHL’s 32nd team.

On Friday, they got one step closer to the big leagues.

Seattle City Council Select Committee on Civic Arenas unanimously approved the proposed renovations to KeyArena, the venue in which a future NHL team may play. This is a necessary step in accommodating the expectations of an NHL arena, and the approval nods yet again towards a future with the Seattle (fill in the blank)s.

Now that the select committee has approved it, it’s all down to the full council, who are scheduled to vote on September 24th.
