Raptors fans, if you weren’t already hyped up for the upcoming NBA season (which we find hard to believe) then let Scottie Barnes himself hype you up!
Following an excerpt within the Players' Tribune by the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Barnes shared how excited he was to join the Raptors squad, to represent Toronto, and just how eager he is to show the world he means business.
Truly, this guy knows how to fire us up on a Friday morning!
Barnes starts off discussing his feelings of excitement, highlighting how he’s truly feeling the buzz of being a part of the Raptors and like he has his own chapter within the organization’s story.
He then goes on to discuss how draft night felt, with the feelings of butterflies and nerves DEFINATELY being prominent, reflecting back on his childhood and having role models such as Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade in their Lakers-Heat eras, envisioning himself one day being able to also live out his basketball dreams which he now can with “some of the best fans in the world.”
He further goes on to share how Raptors fans and the organization have definitely helped welcome him, through social media and by celebrating his birthday once he arrived in Toronto, stating how the best gift he already received was being drafted to the team.
He also highlights meeting and having a connection with Bobby Webster and Masai Ujiri, along with how the team showcased what they’re bringing to the table this season following their Summer League performance.
Honestly, we are absolutely PUMPED for Scottie to join the Raptors squad. You can just tell with how highly he speaks about the organization that he’s ready to really showcase his talents with the team.
