What can seven saves really tell you about a goalie? Well, in Scott Foster’s case – apparently a lot!

The Chicago Blackhawks emergency backup who found himself smack dead in the centre of the spotlight when he heroically entered a game against the Winnipeg Jets in the third period (replacing an injured Collin Delia, who likely worked a lot harder than Foster to earn his NHL debut that night – but hey, good players get lucky, right?) and stopped all seven shots directed at him. That includes a Dustin Byfuglien sizzler, and a Patrik Laine wrister by the way.

Everything from his performance to his personality, to his hilariously contrasted daytime job as an accountant, the night was picture perfect. Now, it may be entering a new chapter.

According to Mark Lazerus, a ‘Hawks beat writer, Foster’s performance has drawn the interest of USHL team, the Chicago Steel. Although the interest wasn’t for his perfect positioning or his quick glove hand, it was for his performance under pressure. They don’t want his services as a goaltender, they want the accountant Scott Foster.

The hilarious letter of interest refers to Foster’s poise. The letter is riddled with awesome quotables such as “To perform like he did, in the height of tax season, really showed us how well he can balance things.”

The accounting puns mixed in with some hockey quips is very well crafted, and maybe it could actually draw Foster’s interest after all.
