The Carolina Hurricanes were supposed to be in the running for the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, but instead the biggest bunch of jerks in the NHL ended up surprising everyone by not only clinching a playoff spot but by making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Final.

Although the series did not go the way they would have hoped, Hurricanes fans gave their team a standing ovation as the series wrapped up and following the game head coach Rod Brind’Amour showed the team’s supporters plenty of love.

The Canes have faced a lot of criticism over the years because of their lack of attendance, but the 2018-19 team changed the culture in Carolina and attracted more new fans than ever before. As a result of their shocking season, they got a lot of love from their fans and fans around the league at the conclusion of their 2018-19 campaign.

We can’t expect the same thing out of the Hurricanes next year, but hopefully they stick with their fun mentality and continue to do things like the Storm Surge.
