There are a lot of goalies who will take to the ice with sweet masks this upcoming season, but there might not be a goalie who is quite as much of a character as Roberto Luongo is. So, it fits that his new mask is every bit as colourful as he is.
Look at this thing! Design-wise, it doesn’t have as much going on as some of the other masks you’re likely to see, but that’s fine, because that metallic gold paint is enough of a statement on its own.
We’re definitely a fan of this. There are a lot of masks out there incorporating a lot of different schticks (and oddly, a lot of lightning bolts), but the minimal design with a fancy paint is a nice change of pace.
Maybe more your speed is Andrei Vasilevskiy’s mask, which uses a special paint that changes colour in cold temperatures, or Louis Domingue’s mask that pays tribute to two Tampa Bay Lightning legends?
