Well if this isn’t a testament to following your dreams and to proving your doubters wrong!

As Blue Jays star pitcher Robbie Ray took home the American League Cy Young award last week, the voting was  unanimous as he locked in 29 first-place votes, with Gerrit Cole and Lance Lynn coming in behind him.

Though as the baseball community came together to congratulate Ray, one Twitter user, in particular, had an incredible story to share of the Cy Young winner.

Dennis King, a retired teacher and basketball coach shared how a young Robbie Ray once was failing his English class, and even though Ray and his mother were pretty confident in his baseball career, King suggested for them to have a backup plan.

Now we’re sure King is absolutely ecstatic for his former student, but it’s definitely a great coming-of-age tale for Ray!
