Every sports fan knew that Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball, his on-court heroics made sure of that. But who was Kobe off the court?
Sports fans across Canada were privileged to find the answer to that through the special relationship shared between Cabbie and Kobe.
Cabbie is a man full of fun relationships, but there was something special about his relationship with Kobe. The Lakers legend was never afraid to give it back to Cab, and their chemistry was unmatched and noticeably brotherly.
First we flash it all the way back to 2009, when Cabbie (eventually) convinced Kobe to get in a limo with him, to drive to his own house.
Kobe even (eventually) accepted Cabbie’s “Best Ever Ring”. Best friends forever.
Before the limo, they made sure to always have access to each other. In fact – Cab even gave Kobe the key to his house. That way, Kobe could easily access whenever he wanted to have a slumber party.
In the actual words of Kobe, “isn’t that just splendid!”.
When Kobe embarked on his Farewell Tour, you knew Cabbie was going to get some time with him to push the boundaries of comfort one last time with Kobe in the league. We’d say it worked very effectively.
The relationships between Cabbie, Kobe, and producer Dave Krikst brought all kinds of smiles to young faces across Canada. While we may feel tears right now, we’re sure this trip down memory lane may help at least a little bit.
