Pittsburgh Pirates left-hander Martin Perez and catcher Joey Bart are heading to the injured list, while third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes is returning, manager Derek Shelton said Tuesday.

Perez landed on the 15-day IL with a left groin strain, while Bart was placed on the 10-day IL with a left thumb injury.

Pittsburgh is awaiting more tests after Perez injured his left groin in Sunday's start against the Atlanta Braves and left after three innings.

Perez, who was an American League All-Star in 2022 and won the World Series with the Texas Rangers in 2023, is 1-3 with a 4.71 ERA through 11 starts this season.

Bart, 27, was injured in the first inning of Sunday's game. He is batting .267 with four homers and 12 RBI in 22 games.

Hayes, 27, has not played since May 7 due to low back inflammation. He is hitting .240 with 11 RBI in 34 games.

The Pirates also called up catcher Grant Koch, who has not made his MLB debut. He is hitting .167 in 17 games this season at Triple-A Indianapolis.
