There's no denying how much Penguins’ fans love Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, but we would argue Phil Kessel is up there with the two superstars in terms of popularity.
Ever since he got to Pittsburgh, he's become a fan-favourite for Pens’ fans thanks to his ability on the ice and his personality off it.
Of course, before he arrived in Pittsburgh he was a fan favourite in Toronto when he played for the Maple Leafs. Kessel still returns to Toronto each offseason because a lot of his best friends still live here, and he loves the city.
When in Toronto on Friday, Kessel spoke on his love for the city of Toronto, and gave a little advice to the young Leafs’ players, letting them know it’s always tougher the second year. See his full comments above.
Kessel has always shown love for Toronto, including this farewell message on Twitter when he found out he was headed for Pittsburgh.
We can’t wait for Kessel’s day with the Stanley Cup this summer, which was a highlight of ours last summer. After a second straight Cup, it looks like it’s going to be another Summer of Phil!
