As a goaltender, they aren’t too many things that are worse than being pulled out of a game and being a replaced by your fellow crease companion.
Philadelphia Flyers goaltender experienced that on Tuesday night in the Flyers 4-3 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
In his return to Hockey Town, the former Red Wings’ netminder allowed three goals on 19 shots before being yanked in favour of 25-year-old ‘tendy Alex Lyon. The three goals came in the first 10 minutes of the middle frame, and it was the second time in three games that Mrazek got yanked.
It's pretty safe to say that Mrazek wasn’t too thrilled about being replaced, as he appeared to have some words for the Flyers coaching staff.
Yikes. There was some speculation that the Wings reportedly traded Mrazek away because of attitude issues. Whether he said something out of line to the coaching staff or not, you can understand why Mrazek was upset if you saw a few of the goals that went in.
Prior to puck drop, the Red Wings honoured Mrazek with a tribute video recapping his time with the Wings organization.
Things haven’t gone that great since being acquired from the Wings on February 19th. In 12 games, Mrazek is 5-5-1 with a 3.27 goals against average and a .885 save percentage.
