Sidney Crosby will suit up for his 1,000th NHL game on Saturday night when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the New York Islanders.
The franchise probably has a few things planned for the captain on his special night, and one of those things includes the rest of Crosby’s teammates, who will all be hitting the ice in No. 87 Crosby jerseys for Saturday’s warm-ups.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion has played all of his games in a Penguins jersey and enters his 1,000th contest with 1,276 career points, good for 37th all-time.
It’s pretty crazy to think that someone as good as Crosby and someone who has that many points sits at No. 37 all-time for most career points, but if there’s one thing we all know from watching Crosby year after year is that he’s still got some time left him in to make his way up the leaderboard.
