It's no secret that Alexander Ovechkin was in favour of NHL players being allowed to compete in the Winter Olympics.
Back in September, the Russian forward released a statement expressing his displeasure in the NHL's decision to block players from representing their respective countries in PyeongChang. Tuesday, Ovechkin spoke with TSN's Darren Dreger ahead of the Capitals game versus the Jets, and when he was asked whether or not he was watching the Olympics, his answer was blunt: "No."
It's pretty clear that Ovi is still pretty upset with the NHL's decision, so it comes as no surprise really that he wouldn't be watching considering the fact that he believes he should be playing. Perhaps Ovi could have been playing had he followed through with his plan from last year...
