Connor McDavid is probably the best hockey player in the world.
The only time anybody really doubts that is because of his team’s performance, and let’s get real, that is not all on him. There’s not a lot that happens on Edmonton when McDavid is involved. Leon Draisaitl has 54 points in 44 games but even with another scorer in the top 20, McDavid has still been involved in over half of his team’s goals.
To put that into even more context, Gretzky scored 208 points in that season. Also, that amount involvement in a team’s goals is the second highest in NHL history.
McDavid might be tied for third in scoring this season, but he is probably the only thing keeping his team in playoff contention.
