Montreal, Quebec native Gabriel Fontaine was selected 171st overall in the sixth round of last summer’s NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. Instead of keeping him on the active roster, the Rangers decided to send Fontaine back to his junior club, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL, for one more season.
In a game against the Gatineau Olympiques on Tuesday night, Fontaine capped off a five-goal second period by the Huskies with an unbelievable goal.
After posting career-highs in every category last season, the 19-year-old centreman is on pace to set new highs in every category this year, with 16 goals and 34 points in 36 games.
