Last month, it news was made when North Korea and South Korea opened a dialogue about participating together in women’s ice hockey.

When the agreement was made, it was also stated that the countries would enter the opening ceremony together as well. What we didn’t know was how a major a role they would play in the event. First North Korea and South Korea entered holding the flag together.

Then, as the relay with the Olympic torch was passed around the stadium, two athletes from the Women’s ice hockey team, one from North Korea and another from South Korea held the torch together and carried it up the stairs to the anchor of the relay, Yuna Kim who lit the Olympic Flame and officially kicked off the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Already the Olympic Games are offering tons of storylines and it should only get crazier as Canada starts bidding for medals later today.
