Every sport is different, so it’s hard to draw comparisons between sports that are played on different surfaces, with different types of equipment, by different types of athletes.

But, across the board, despite the drastic differences that separate all the many sports that exist, there is one constant.

People highly dislike officials.

This afternoon, in a world where sports fantasy has become reality, NFL fans are getting exactly what they what they called for in regards to a poor call being made in-game.

A referee has been fired.

In what is being called an ‘unprecedented’ move, the NFL has elected to fire official Hugo Cruz as a result of repeated poor performances,  effective immediately.

Though the league is insisting that this dismissal is as a result of consistently poor decisions and not just one bad call, it comes immediately after Cruz missed a blatant false start resulting in a touchdown, in a game where the Chargers were facing the Browns.

Cruz has been officiating NFL games since 2015, and with a new precedent being set with this monumental mid-season firing, we’re wondering what how sports fans will react, and if it will set a new standard in dismissing referees for poor performances.
