It’s going to be a busy week in the NBA as some of the top players in the game are set to hit the free agent market.
The one player who has attracted the most eyes and conversation heading into Sunday night is two-time NBA champion Kawhi Leonard.
Starting July 2, Kawhi and his team will meet with the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors, according to multiple reports, and it turns out the Lakers will have to do their pitch without one of the biggest names in franchise history.
Apparently Kawhi Leonard had asked that only Magic Johnson and Jeanie Buss sit it on the presentation when he meets with the Lakers next week, but the NBA has stepped in and denied Magic Johnson access to the Lakers’ off-season free agent pitch meetings.
However, just because Johnson won’t be allowed to sit in on the official pitch, it doesn’t mean he can’t speak to Kawhi Leonard before or after that meeting since he no longer works for the team.
It’s going to be a wild couple of weeks in the NBA and it all gets started Sunday night at 6pm Eastern.
