For anyone who watched NASCAR on TSN on Sunday, you would've seen driver Bubba Wallace, who showed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protestors before the match, passing out during a post-race interview.
The 26-year-old Alabama product was seen closing his eyes after the pit reporter Jamie Little asked him a question. Wallace slowing starts to slow his balance, before being immediately helped by team members. It was the second time he had lost consciousness.
He was immediately put in an ambulance and sent to the specialized care centre via a stretcher. As he was put in, he lifted his hands up and was seen talking to paramedics, indicating he was all right.
Both NASCAR and Wallace issued statements after, with Wallace sending out a hilarious tweet, referencing a place from Call of Duty Warzone called the 'Gulag,' where players are sent after they die on the map to face an opponent, who also just perished, in a 1v1 showdown with the winner going back in the game, while the loser is sent packing.
Wallace placed 21st in the Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway after jumping up to the sixth place at one point, but a mechanical probelm with a wheel cost him time and ultimately his positioning after heading to the pit stop.
“We thought we were okay,” Wallace said about his placing post-race. “We had that loose wheel, but all-in-all our team couldn’t get a hold of our balance.”
While it was a scary moment, indeed, it's good to see Wallace poke some fun with a quality pop culture reference.
