Grateful Dead has built one of the most loyal followings over their years of existence, so it’s no surprise that sports franchises still host theme nights in honour of the rock band.
Over the years we’ve seen some awesome Grateful Dead-themed minor league hockey jerseys and beer league jerseys, but next weekend we’ll get to see the Lakewood BlueClaws hit the field in their own Grateful Dead-themed baseball jersey.
The Philadelphia Phillies’ Single-A affiliate will host Grateful Dead Night at the ballpark next Saturday night when they take on the Hickory Crawdads and there’s a lot in store for fans. Not only will they get to watch their team play the game in special edition Grateful Dead-themed uniforms, but they’ll also receive their own special edition T-shirt.
Before the game, fans will get a chance to watch a live performance by Splintered Sunlight, a Grateful Dead tribute band, and will wrap up the night with a post-game fireworks show. They’ll also be auctioning off the special edition jerseys they wear that night, with all proceeds going towards BlueClaws Charities and their community partner organizations.
