One of the biggest challenges any sports league is currently facing is growing their respective game at the grassroots level so kids can literally and figuratively invest into the future of the games.

Down in Alabama, the Montgomery Biscuits, the minor league Double-AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, are throwing a "Millennial Night" on July 21st in hopes of getting the next generation of baseball fans out to the ballpark. How they’re actually executing the promotion is what’s garnering attention, as the promotion takes a jab at the millennial stereotype.

Fans will be given participation ribbons, take part in the designated selfie stations, or engage in a good old fashion nap. Hungry? Why not spread some avocado onto your toast!

“Want free things without doing much work? Well, you’re in luck!” the club’s tweet on Wednesday about the promotion reads. “Riverwalk Stadium will be Millennial friendly on Saturday, July 21st with a participation ribbon giveaway just for showing up, napping and selfie stations, along with lots of avocados."

That's right, if you don't want to pay for the tickets, all you have to do is complain!

The event was met with plenty of backlash on Twitter.

Of course, not everyone was offended by the promotion.

What do you think? Is it wise to poke fun at the generation of fans you're trying to attract, or is this a poorly executed idea?
