The Colorado Avalanche had a pretty rough go during their most recent five-game road trip through Canada as they managed to pick up just one victory during that time. The lengthy trip concluded in Ottawa on Wednesday night, where Colorado was burned by former Avalanche player Matt Duchene, who scored twice and added an assist in the Senators’ 5-2 victory.
Although things haven’t gone in their favour as of late the Avalanche are still remaining positive as they’re right in the middle of the playoff race. While they have a few players to thank for their recent success, one player in particular who has stolen the spotlight for most of the 2018-19 season is Mikko Rantanen, who sits tied for second in total points.
Ahead of Wednesday’s game Rantanen spotted a fan trying to get his attention from the other side of the glass and once he realized what he was trying to do the 22-year-old was all game and stopped to pose for the camera.
The 2015 10th overall pick had quite the breakout year last season where he scored 29 goals and added 55 assists for 84 points in 81 games, and he’s proving it wasn’t a fluke as he’s already scored 21 goals to go with 50 assists for 71 points in just 47 games this season. It’s nice to see that success hasn’t changed him one bit and he’s still a man of the people.
