In this day and age, there are acronyms for so many words that are universally understood so we don't have to type the whole phrase out, like "lol" (laugh out loud), for example.

That is one of the most common acronyms used by everyone every single day in various situations, whether it be a text message, on social media, or actually saying "lol" to somebody.

"HBU" is another well-known acronym, but not everyone knows the meaning of it, especially if they've never heard of it before and Patrick Marleau is one of those people.

On Tuesday, Mitch Marner revealed Marleau had no clue what "HBU" meant when he and Matthews would text it to him.

The 38-year-old father of four didn't grow up with "HBU" so he deserves a pass, but we're sure Marner and Matthews don't give him one.

That said, it's cool to see how a veteran like Marleau has come in and become a mentor to many of the younger players on Toronto's roster.

Marleau might not know about certain acronyms, but he's still producing like he was when he was younger with 17 points in 28 games this season.
