Former NHL hockey player Marc Savard was forced to retire after suffering from a lingering concussion in 2010. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t stayed connected to the sport.

One look at Savard’s Twitter page reveals that he clearly misses the game, as almost all of his tweets are related to hockey. Just recently he appeared on the NHL Network’s radio show “The Power Play”, and most of the pictures on his profile consist of Warrior hockey equipment. Last night after the Columbus Blue Jackets’ 7-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, Savard sounded off and took a direct shot at head coach John Tortorella.

Atkinson was a healthy scratch in the team’s previous matchup, and it clearly rubbed Savard the wrong way. It’s unclear why he decided to publicly rip Torts, especially since he never played for him or Atkinson throughout his career. It was the Oilers who were the victim of one of Savard’s latest Tweets, though, after he expressed his frustration with the team over playing Draisaitl and McDavid on the same line.

Tortorella is coming off of a 2017 Jack Adams win and is in a position to win the award again this season. Despite Columbus’ 20-11-1 record, the head coach is always going to have his haters; especially from former players. If you’re looking to hear from someone who isn’t scared to share his mind, give Savard a follow. After scoring 706 points through 807 NHL games, the guy knows a thing or two about the sport.
