It looked like LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were going to steal a victory on the road in Game 1, but after J.R. Smith’s blunder following George Hill’s missed free throw the rest of the series basically went down the drain for the Cavs.
LeBron followed up his 51-point performance in Game 1 with two more outstanding performances in the following two games, but the Warriors were just too much handle the rest of the series as they went on to complete the sweep on Friday night. Following the Game 4 loss at home, some injury news was brought to light as sources revealed LeBron suffered a significant right hand injury after Game 1.
Before sports fans start in with the ‘my sport is tougher is than your sport’ arguments, LeBron’s injury wasn’t close to being a minor one as he pretty much played three games with a broken hand. It turns out his hand was so swollen after he punched the board that they couldn’t even get a proper diagnosis after the first MRI.
Although he’s not expected to go under the knife in the offseason, it’s pretty hard to get the job done at the highest level when you’re carrying your entire team on your back and only playing with one good hand.
