Rasmus Dahlin may have been selected first overall in this year’s draft, but he’s apparently not nearly as good as video games as he is on the ice.
On Sunday, the 18-year-old attended an event for Upper Deck at Mastrecard Centre where he participated in a photoshoot with fellow Swede Timothy Liljegren. There, the Leafs prospect made a bold claim involving his friend.
The following is an excerpt from buffalonews.com:
“I’d have to say I’m the better player,” Liljegren said. “I’m pretty good at all video games. Rasmus, he’s got talent in hockey but not in PlayStation.”
The two roomed together at the World Junior Championship in Buffalo (ironically enough) where they mainly went toe-to-toe in Call of Duty. When asked if he thinks Dahlin would agree, he remained confident in his answer.
The following is an excerpt from buffalonews.com:
“I hope so,” Liljegren said, “because I was better than him.”
Despite his stance, Liljegren made sure to compliment Dahlin on his on-ice ability.
The following is an excerpt from buffalonews.com:
“Even though I’m one year older, it’s a guy you can learn from, just watching him,” Liljegren said. “He’s so smooth with the puck, and he’s a great guy outside of the rink, as well. He’s a lot of fun to play with.”
The two will each have to find a new gaming buddy this season.
