When you’re a professional athlete, chances are you’re pretty set financially. We often see them driving nice cars, living in luxurious houses, and spending more on night’s out than most of us can dream of.
That doesn’t mean they are selfish, spoiled brats though, and it also means they have the opportunity to do some good in the world as well.
Boston Celtics star guard Kyrie Irving did just that, when he was caught on camera extending an extremely kind gesture to a man less fortunate than him.
The sum of cash was $240, and the homeless man was absolutely elated. Following the generous act of kindness, Irving’s reasoning was simple.
“I’ve really been afforded a lot in this life that I play the game that I love, so . . . ’’ he said. “I just love giving back. I told you my object is to heal the world.’’
It’s nice to see athlete’s show that they aren’t caught up in their own head. Irving’s donation is next to nothing compared to what he makes in a game, but it is something that man – and the other fans around him – will remember for the rest of their lives.
