Justin Smoak has been one of few Blue Jays bright spots this season, and as the team fights to stay in the Wild Card race, he has continued to crush at the plate.
In the last month, Smoak’s OBP is still over .400 and he’s hit eight home runs. He has exceeded expectations in every way so far this season. Even defensively, where he has always shined, he ranks 10th among 1st basemen in defensive WAR this season according to Fangraphs and has only committed one error all season.
Even if none of that was true and he was the worst player on the team, the following tweet was totally unnecessary and it’s good to see Kristin Smoak, Justin’s Wife, stick up for herself and her husband.
Not only did she put this person in their place, but she hopefully added a little perspective to their life. If you’re spending your time harassing players’ wives on Twitter because you’re upset about the outcome of the game, maybe take a break for a while.
Kristin and Justin’s daughter Sutton clearly has some good parents if they’re using examples like this one to show her the way of the world.
