The Washington Capitals got LUCKY on Thursday night, while Kris Letang definitely did not.

In the final two minutes of the game, Pittsburgh was down 3-2 when they pulled their goalie to hopefully even up the scoreboard. Letang tried receiving a pass on the point when all of the sudden his stick completely shattered. Capitals forward Carl Hagelin jumped on the puck, easily got around a stickless Letang and scored the empty netter for a short handed goal. Caps went on to finish things off with a 5-2 win.

Obviously this is a tough go for Pittsburgh. It’s hard to even be mad at Hagelin for capitalizing on this because what else was he supposed to do? Let’s not make a bad situation worse. All you can really do is laugh at this point.

Hey Pittsburgh fans, look on the bright side. At least this wasn’t during the playoffs or Stanley Cup finals.
