Canada was heading into the World Junior Gold Medal game as an absolute wrecking ball. They hadn’t given up an even strength goal and they’d never trailed (both of those changed against U.S.A.), which is pretty crazy considering they did it all without one of their best players.
Kirby Dach seriously injured his wrist in Canada’s only pre-competition game, and it was announced soon after that he would not be able to join the team for the tournament. While he can’t suit up and join his teammates on the ice, Dach has maintained a leadership role from afar, constantly sharing his support.
Ahead of the Gold Medal game, Dach shared one final message to “the boys,” and all the Canadian fans watching along.
