Kevin Durant has heard it all from fans and players around the league ever since he ditched the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors right after the Thunder blew a 3-1 series lead to the same Warriors and things didn’t get any better for him after his burner account was exposed.
The two-time NBA Finals MVP was a recent guest on Portland Trail Blazers guard C. J. McCollum’s podcast, “Pull Up with CJ McCollum”, and the conversation between the two got pretty heated once the conversation focused on the Warriors signing DeMarcus Cousins. Here’s the exchange between the two, courtesy of Sporting News.
Kevin Durant: Why are you mad about this stuff?
C.J. McCollum: Bro, I’m in the league. What do you mean why am I mad about this stuff? I’m in the Western Conference. I gotta play you MFers all the time anyway as it is, over and over again. We got eliminated by y’all a few times in the first round. So I’m looking at [Cousins] –
KD: I mean… you know you guys aren’t going to win a championship?
CJM: Bro, we have the team. We have the capabilities. Anything is possible. We can win a championship, bro.
The transcript makes the conversation seem like it was a lot more harsh than it actually was, but it was later on in the day on Twitter where KD really got heated with McCollum and the things he had to say.
The exchange didn’t escalate any further after that, unless they decided to move the conversation offline. We’re guessing this is the last time Durant appears on McCollum’s podcast but it’s going to make for some great matchups between the Warriors and the Blazers next season.
