Nobody wants to see a teammate traded, but the business side of sports is one that can't be avoided and players are forced to say goodbye to teammates they've become incredibly close with.
Tuesday night, Senators players were forced to say goodbye to Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson as they were dealt to the Los Angeles Kings.
Both players haven't been in Ottawa very long, but based on the tweets from some of the players after the trade went down, you can tell how incredible they were as teammates and people.
The most emotional and heartfelt tweets came from Sens captain Erik Karlsson as he said goodbye to two of his friends.
That tweet paints a pretty good picture of how much Thompson and Phaneuf mean to Karlsson, but all fans wanted to talk about was the fact that Karlsson said "goodbye for now."
In fact, Karlsson actually had to send out another tweet to clarify what he meant by "goodbye for now."
It's pretty obvious that's what he meant, but with Karlsson's future so uncertain, some fans couldn't help but read into the tweet a little too much.
Whether Karlsson plays with Phaneuf and Thompson again or not, one thing is quite clear, he'll always be friends with the two.
