Joe Thornton's beard will never be the same again. Well, that's not true, but Nazem Kadri did help Thornton change the style of his beard by pulling a large chunk of it off of his face.
Thursday, hockey fans found themselves enamored with the visuals of Thornton's partially grey beard hairs falling from Kadri's right glove following a tilt between the two forwards. The amount of hairs that left Joe's face would be enough to create an entirely new beard on someone else's face. Here's an image of it in Sharks goaltender Aaron Dell's hand in case you missed it.
Speaking after the game, Kadri explained that he certainly didn't mean to grab a hold of Thornton's beard...it just kind of happened. The Leafs forward then proceeded to laugh it off with a cutting quip.
While Thornton hasn't spoken on the incident just yet, Sharks head coach Pete DeBoer did, labeling it as one of the strangest things he's witnessed in his career.
It really isn't every day that you see someone lose that much beard hair in a fight, but then again, you don't really see a whole lot of people with as much facial hair as Thronton (outside of James Harden).
Perhaps the Sharks Twitter account is right, and Kadri simply had #BeardEnvy.
