The Columbus Blue Jackets have had a lot to be happy about so far this season. Through 31 games, the Blue Jackets own a 19-11-1 record and sit tied for first in the Metropolitan Division with 39 points.
Despite being one of the best teams in the NHL, the Blue Jackets had a very rough night at home against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night as they were blown out 7-2.
The Oilers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but the second period is when it all went downhill for Columbus. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins made it 2-0 just over six minutes into the second frame, which was followed up by three goals in a span of three minutes and 18 seconds to make it 5-0 after two.
Considering this was the first time the Blue Jackets allowed seven goals in a game since October 14, 2015, head coach John Tortorella was left speechless and took part in one of the shortest post-game press conferences of all-time.
Tortorella clearly had nothing nice to say about his team’s performance on Tuesday night so he didn’t say anything at all.
