Sunday night was not a good look for Tennis fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Defending US Open champ Novak Djokovic was the subject of boos after he was forced to retire from his third round match against Stan Wawrinka due to a shoulder injury. The ailment gave Djokovic trouble throughout the tournament and while trailing in the third set and having already surrendered the first two 4-6 and 5-7, he finally decided that enough was enough. Unfortunately his decision didn’t sit all that well with spectators.

Not cool tennis fans, not cool. Tennis fans taking in the action shared their disapproval with the reaction on Twitter:

Djokovic is less than two months removed from winning Wimbledon, where he defeated Roger Federer in a five-set tie-breaker battle of the ages. We get fans are upset they didn’t get their money's worth watching the tournament’s number one seed, but come on. The man was clearly in some pain!

Wawrinka will now face Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinal in what should be an interesting matchup.
