The Dallas Stars selected defenceman John Klingberg with the 131st overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and every other team across the NHL is still wondering how they let him sleep so far down the list.

The Gothenburg, Sweden native was the 40th defenceman taken off the board that summer and he’s accumulated more NHL points than 37 of the 39 defenders selected before him. This year, the 25-year-old is on pace for a career-season and he currently leads all defencemen in scoring with 36 points in 42 games.

Ahead of Thursday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils, Klingberg noticed a Stars fan in the front row rocking his No. 3 and incorporated the fan into his pre-game routine.

Most fans sitting that close to the action hope to get some sort of game-used souvenir out of it or witness something incredible up close, but this Stars fan probably didn’t expect to join in on Klingberg’s pre-game ritual.

You never know what’s going to happen during the pre-game warm-ups.
