Jamie Phillips was selected 190th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft but didn’t start working with the organization on a full-time basis until last season as he decided to complete his four year program at Michigan Tech.
Last year, Phillips played 11 games in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose and another 31 in the ECHL with the Tulsa Oilers. This year, the 24-year-old is currently playing with the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen and he’s hoping his performance on Tuesday night will help him turn around his season.
On Tuesday, the Icemen were in Orlando to take on the Solar Bears. Although they ended up on the losing end of things, Phillips came away with the play of the night and a save of the year candidate late in the second period.
Phillips completely robs his opponent of an easy goal, but it wasn’t enough as his team failed to find the back of the net the rest of the night.
The Caledonia, Ontario native appeared in 99 games for Michigan Tech from 2012-2016 and posted a 57-25-8 record to go along with a .913 save percentage and a 2.23 goals against average.
