The Major League Baseball season is a long one, so franchises are always thinking of new ways to attract fans to the ballpark.
This September, the Detroit Tigers are teaming up with musician Jack White and his Detroit-based independent record label Third Man Records for one of the coolest promotions of the year.
Known as the Vinyl Record Ticket Package, the Tigers are allowing fans to purchase the special package for their game against the Minnesota Twins on September 24, which will include a an exclusive Third Man Records 7-inch vinyl record.
The double A-side 7-inch vinyl will be blue and orange in honour of the Tigers. One side will include The Brush-Offs’ song “Strikeout”, which consists of Detroit artists Brendan Benson, Ben Blackwell, Dominic Davis and Olivia Jean, while the other side will feature an interview with Kirk Gibson conducted by Jack White himself.
One of the coolest parts about the limited edition vinyl is the fact that the photos on the record sleeve were taken by Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris.
The Tigers-coloured vinyl version of the record will only be available through the Tigers’ special ticket package for their game on September 24 and a portion of each ticket package sale will go towards the Kirk Gibson Foundation and the Detroit Tigers Foundation.
