Benevento Calcio made history on Sunday.
The Italian soccer club picked up their first-ever point in Serie A and they did it in dramatic fashion.
Trailing 2-1 to AC Milan in the dying minutes of the game, Benevento was awarded a free kick deep in enemy territory. With nothing to lose they sent everyone in deep, including their goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli, and it worked out very well in their favour.
With less than one minute left in the game, Benevento goalie Alberto Brignoli beautifully connected on the free kick with his head and ended up scoring one of the nicest header goals you’ll ever see.
Considering Benevento picked up their first-ever point in Serie A against one of the greatest teams in the history of the league, you can bet new AC Milan head coach Gennaro Gattuso was not feeling too great after his team blew the lead late in the game.
Just more proof that anything can happen as long as you stick it out until the final whistle.
