Ilya Kovalchuk is just hours away from making his long anticipated NHL return and he’s looking a little different this time around.

The Russian’s skill was never in doubt during his tenure in the league but he was never regarded as a particularly strong/beefy player. Well, you can definitely say that the 35-year-old has developed some old man strength, because he’s looking absolutely enormous heading into this year’s NHL action.

LOOK AT THOSE PIPES!!!!

Okay, so the guy's got some muscles (for days) but he sadly doesn’t even compare to Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin, who believe it or not might be the strongest man involved with the NHL. The guy is an absolute nightmare with short sleeves on!

Wouldn’t have wanted to drop the gloves with that man in his prime…

Like Ilya’s shot wasn’t hard enough back in his prime, it might be even harder this time around.
